In 1972 I got stuck on the island by the tide , I'd been fishing on lost track of time (I was12) . The lighthouse keeper found me sheltering at night under an up turned boat and took me into the lighthouse for a cup of tea and a tour round until the tide went out . He telephoned my parents to let them know I was ok . I visited last year ,things were much the same as I remember , great memories .

My Mam's favourite day out was to go to St Mary's island, have a bit of a picnic in the car, take in the view and do a bit of people watching. One year we went at Christmas time and she was very touched by the wreaths which had been carefully laid upon the dedicated benches. I'd love to do that for her - especially as she passed away at Christmas time.
I miss you so much Mam.

At night when the moon shone bright, it only added to the magic of the wonderful lighthouse.
