I have lovely memories of working as Senior Warden at the lighthouse between 1994 and 1999 - happy days spent taking school groups round the rockpools and up all of the stairs several time a day (kept me very fit!) also the Lighthouse Centenary celebrations in 1998. I must come back and visit soon with my 2 kids! I miss the Spanish City too... 3 July 24, 2010 - 11:31 PM Kyla   It was so lovely to find this site. I spent many happy days at St Marys and Whitley Bay as a child in the 70's. Brings back lots of lovely memories of being with my Nanna and Grandad. Lots of time climbing on the rocks before the new sea wall, and exploring rock pools with my brother! I now live down south in a place called St Marys Island! The photos are brill. 4 July 20, 2010 - 07:57 PM Stuart Hendersob   Me and my partner Denise Toon live in New Hartley having moved up to the North East in March and we love visiting St Marys island, in fact weve just this minute got back from there.Its a lovely peaceful place, i could spend hours just relaxing there with the sea breeze coming in and the the smell of the sea wafting around me. I lived in Newcastle for 5 years before working in the middle east till last year and the first thing i'd after months of being in the desert is to come to the coast and look out to sea, i missed it so much and now i live 5 mins away.
